Washington, DC-US President Barack Obama signs the Federal bill for extension of unemployment benefits. The House passed the bill today and Obama signed it paving way for over 2.5 jobless millions to get a respite from getting the extended benefits for unemployment.
In a few states, the retroactive payments will be resumed and other states the benefits will be available from a week to 3 weeks’ time.
While the US Senate passed the extension bill the House had passed the bill that provides $34 billions as aid for the jobless Americans who are rendered jobless for greater than 6 months period for no fault or reason of their own.
The vote of the House for the bill was 272 to 152, which included 3 Republicans too that joined the 241 Democrats in support of the bill. However, 142 Republicans and 10 Democrats voted against the extension of benefits to the unemployed Americans.
