Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report says most of the polio is in Nigeria

While Polio has been totally removed from most countries, Nigeria still hails the virus to the extent that world’s most polio is there; close to 50% of globally reported polio cases. In 2008 the country reported 798 polio affected cases of the total 1,651.
According to Mortality and Morbidity Weekly Report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Nigeria had been source of polio virus transmission to about 13 of its neighboring countries, affecting the children, during the year 2008-09. The report says that 3 virus strains are actively transmitting the disease amongst the vulnerable group of population.
The figures give a SOS call to Nigerian government for immediate address of the issue and Polio eradication.
