Obesity and pregnancy are inversely correlated. Women who are obese are somewhat unlikely to become pregnant. This is almost established, but according to US researchers even if they conceive, they have increased risk of other problems.
According to Barbara Luke from the College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University, overweight women are 14% less likely to conceive and become pregnant and obese women are 28% less likely to become pregnant.
Her study also found that even if the obese women become pregnant, there are greater risks; the chances of stillbirth is over two times in them.
The message is clear: Get into right shape by some lifestyle modifications including quit smoking, alcohol should you like to get pregnant.
