Google to launch movie rental service, a PPV service on YouTube

Google’s YouTube is talking terms with Hollywood movie studios to launch an international movie rental service or PPV (pay-per-view) video service @ $5 for a 48-hour playtime. And should things work out, the pay-per-view films service will be available by 2010.

Google has been working on a on-demand movie service model with its YouTube that will have global appeal as regards the streaming and quality, sources report.
Fortunately Google and YouTube have greater viewers than any other conventional cable or satellite service and even if they can even steer a little of the users to the new proposed PPV video service it will still be a big number.
There is a lot happening in the internet movie zone, Apple has been working on TV device that links TV sets to Internet, the movie subscription company, Netflix is buying digital rights to several movies for the streaming service it provides, and Hulu which is an online video site is mulling with the idea of initial public offering for a $2 billion.
