High school football coach gunned to death

Ed Thomas, the famous football coach who’d successfully leading football teams for over 37 years, was shot to death right in front of his student trainees.
Ed Thomas’ players include many players in the NFL circles but it was his former player who was arrested on charges of killing the coach.
Being a high school football coach throughout his life, Ed Thomas had been instrumental in launching careers of several footballers and shockingly he was gunned down on Wednesday right in front of his students by one former player, who according to authorities might be enduring psychological problems.
Mark Becker, the man had shot several rounds into Ed Thomas inside the Aplington Parkersburg High School ground was arrested along the driveway as he was escaping to his home soon after the incident.
The motive of Mark Becker to kill the football coach is not known immediately, but he is believed to be suffering from psychiatric problems requiring serious attention.
Surprisingly, Mark Becker didn’t threaten or harm any of the Ed Thomas students inside the school premise.
The 58-year-old Thomas, died at a hospital near Waterloo. However, the entire episode shocked the Parkersburg neighborhood as well as NFL circles in Iowa and other states.
24-Year-old Mark Becker was arrested on first-degree murder charges and held in custody in the Butler County Jail.
