Medical marijuana? The debate is triggered once again

California, lately, has been witnessing increasing number of medical marijuana clinics. Now this also triggers more about the legality of the same.

The Compassionate Use Act 1996 passed in California has been allowing patients possess and/or cultivate marijuana for medical purposes. Of course they need to have a doctor’s recommendation for this. The benefit of marijuana in people with cancer, AIDS and chronic pain complaints is so high that lately several physicians are recommending it.

According to Dr. Donald Abrams, Chief of Oncology, San Francisco General Hospital, medically marijuana offers great benefits especially to cancer patients who lose appetite and suffer from weight loss and encounter some form of a depression and anxiety. The number of prescription meds a patient should be taking reduces if he/she is on marijuana.

In fact, marijuana is also being recommended in those who suffer from frequent migraines and also restless leg symptoms.
