Half million; and that’s the number of people who applied for Jackson’s funeral tickets. Even as Los Angeles suffers serious budget deficit and threat from recession triggering job cutting, unperturbed fans gathered at the STAPLES Center to apply for tickets for Michael Jackson funeral.
Michael Jackson’s memorial is planned for July 07, 2009 and the demand for free tickets (17500 tickets) seems to be unending even as city mayor urges people to stay indoors and watch it all on TV sets.
More than half million people thronged the Staples Center to apply for tickets and there had been a stampede at the area. Authorities also believe that there will be a huge black market of these tickets once allotment is done.
Officials are also pondering as to how they will be managing the crowd, leave alone the cost involved in this event. The city council people are lobbying with MJ family and AEG Live his London concerts promoter to cover up the cost that the city is unable to bear alone. It is also learnt that the police could convince Jackson family not to go for a cortege.
