The rape probe against WikiLeaks founder was reopened on Wednesday, September 01, 2010. The investigation on rape allegations against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was reopened again by a senior Swedish prosecutor; the new twist to which prosecutors overruled each other.
Assange; however, denied the rape allegations against him and even suggested them to be part of Smear Campaign by his opponents.
Although Assange’s case was dismissed by the Chief Prosecutor Eva Finne, in Stockholm, last week, but the woman’s lawyer on Wednesday appealed the decision and on Wednesday, Marianne Ny, the Director of Public Prosecution, had called for reopening of Assange’s case.
It is learnt that some critical information had come in on Tuesday and it was decided to reopen the case, according to Marianne Ny, not divulging into the details of information gotten on Tuesday. It is also not clear if Assange will be arrested based on the information obtained.
The Director of Public Prosecution also decided to reopen another investigation that alleges Assange of sexual coercion and molestation. It is fact that Assange met the two women on the same day on August 14, 2010, and they both have filed the charges against him after six days. The WikiLeaks founder didn’t immediately respond to the reopening of the rape case.
