Williams vs Williams Wimbledon Finals

Wimbledon 2009 Women’s Singles Finals: As anybody could guess its again Williams vs Williams finals at the Wimbledon’s Queens Court.

Here they come, the Williams sisters are back again for the fourth time as finalists in the Wimbledon tournament.

Serena won the last two sets in the semi-finals against Russia’s Elena Dementieva on Thursday and it was a tough fight with the Russian looking never relaxed and made Serena run up and down the court.

As I watched I felt all through my guts that it will be a Dementieva match, and I reckon the Russian too a great fighter after this match. Agility on court and intelligent placements is what Serena will have to learn from the lanky Russian. She was absolute beauty on court. To beat this beauty, Serena had to execute all her fighting skills and push Dementieva in what had been a close encounter, and storm into the Womens singles finals.

From 6-7 down first set Serena went on to win the next 2 sets 7-5 and 8-6 to make it through finals.

The second seed defeated the Russian in what had been one long match in the history of Women’s tennis sweating for over 2 hours and 49 minutes. No wonder, it was recorded as the longest semi-final in the history of the Wimbledon tournament.

Quite the contrary Venus Williams ousted the World No.1 Dinara Safina in just 51 minutes. And, the elder Williams stormed into the women’s finals with this ecstatic victory. She mauled the Russian in straight sets almost without a fight- 6-1, 6-0. This also happens to make a record; one of the dullest rather most one-sided semifinals. This will be Venus’ eighth final, and she certainly seems to have an edge over her sister Serena to lift the coveted trophy after destroying World No. 1 Dinara Safina.

Venus had defeated her kid sister in 2008 Wimbledon final and so far has five titles to her credit and was twice the defending champion. Serena has won the Wimbledon title twice and might well be looking to avenge the 2008 defeat this time around. Now, the fight is all in the family, the Wimbledon trophy is sure to find a place in the Williams’ household.
