Federer is inching towards a historic moment in the history of tennis; maybe, but the British tennis fans are still finding it hard to digest that their hero had lost one precious opportunity to go into the Wimbledon 2009 mens finals.

The Brits fans are in a state of shock; Andy Murray has just lost the most precious semi final match to the American Ace Andy Roddick. Andy Roddick will meet Roger Federer in the Wimbledon 2009 mens finals.

In the first semi finals Roger Federer walks smoothly into the finals after winning against German veteran Tommy Haas. It had been straight setters semi finals and Federer didn’t had to sweat too much to send Tommy Haas packing. The 5-time champ wins in 3 sets 7-6 (7/3), 7-5 and 6-3 and reaches his 20th singles finals breaking Evan Lendl record of 19 major singles finals.

In the other semi finals, Andy Murray was greatly predicted to win and then create history. Even though he was great with his aces he failed to cash in on them and succumbed to Roddick’s awesome power. It took four sets to decide the fate of the match between these two- 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, the exciting last two sets were tie breaks and Murray won only one set (the second set) only to shatter the dreams of all his fans at home.

Federer’s win did not come as a great surprise although the 31-year-old German opponent Haas had put up a brave fight; all but going in vain and gave in to the genius of Roger Federer.

Federer defeated Haas in straight sets; 7-6, 7-5, 6-3 and has made yet another grand 7th consecutive entry into the Wimbledon mens finals.

Federer certainly has all the reasons under the sun to claim his 15th title. But you never know, one bad day could change the course of the game and the lady luck might change sides. That said, Roger Federer still could emerge victorious because he seems to be in the best form and his confidence riding high on his back that might well give nightmares to his American opponent. To testify the fact Roddick has lost twice to Federer in Wimbledon finals and their head to head record shows 18 wins to the Swiss and only 2 in favour of Roddick.

So, there is not one but all reasons that the Wimbledon 2009 Mens winner is Roger Federer and he will surpass Pete Sampras record and win 15th Grand Slam title.
