BlackBerry maker Research In Motion today gave in to the governments request of access to monitoring of its services.
RIM promises access to the encrypted message to the security agencies and monitor its services. These will be operationalized with immediate effect, reads the statement released by Home Ministry.
Initially the Blackberry insisted that it cannot grant access to any monitoring, prompted by Government’s threat to banning its services from September 01, 2010, RIM had come up with proposals for the lawful access to BlackBerry Enterprise Services (BES) as well as BlackBerry Messenger Services (BBM) by law enforcement and/or Government security agencies.
