Egypt to build nuclear plant

Nuke seems to be the order of the month. After Iran, Egypt now says it will build Egypt’s first nuclear power plant.
Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak announced that the nuclear power plant would be built in el-Dabaa along the west coast of port Alexandria would be located in el-Dabaa.
According to spokesperson from Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Egypt have plans in place to make the Dabaa nuclear power plant functional in 2019. The Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be Egypt’s first planned nuke power plant.
The spokesperson added it will be the source the country is looking at as alternative to conventional fuels. He said the power from the nuclear power plant will be one consistent source of energy to Egypt.
Aside the Dabaa power plant the country has three more nuclear plant projects in pipeline which at the moment have been tentatively scheduled to give into production in 2025. It should be learnt that Hosni Mubarak had announced country’s plans to launch many power plants in the year 2007 itself.
Yukiya Aman, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Head, in June 2010 visited Cairo and reassured Egypt of the agency’s assistance.
