K Radhakrishnan hailed as new Chairman for ISRO

ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organisation gets new chairman. Dr. K Radhakrishnan the Avionics expert and senior scientist who had been pivotal in several of the ISRO missions will succeed Chandrayan hero and current Chairman Dr G Madhavan Nair. Dr. Nair will superannuate on October 31, 2009.

Obviously, Dr. K Radhakrishnan sounded happy for the responsibility entrusted with him. He had been to Guruvayur Lord Krishna Temple to offer prayers after the announcement was made.

Dr. K Radhakrishnan had been one of the important architects behind the ISRO’s Moon Mission. Dr. Radhakrishnan told press that ISRO will look forward to NASA like missions where humans would be sent to orbit, this will be one of projects that he will be initiating as ISRO Chairman.

Dr. Radhakrishnan; however, told that before all that GSLV-3 will be launched with an indigenous cryogenic engine that takes the GSAT-4 the communication satellite.

Dr. Radhakrishnan hails from Irinjalakkuda of the Thrissur district, Kerala and is an MBA from IIM B. Dr. Radhakrishnan joined ISRO in 1971 as avionics engineer and was inducted at VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram.
