Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, successfully passed another milestone today.
The launch vehicle PSLV-C14 had placed 7 satellites in orbit, all in a single launch. The Oceansat-2 and 6 other nanosat satellites were placed in orbit in about 1200 seconds; which is quite an achievement. This is the first ISRO mission after the undue end of the prestigious Chandrayan-I project.
All of the satellites are about 1kg payloads and includes the country’s remote sensing satellite Oceansat-2 within a span of 20 minutes. From the Satish Dhawan Space Center the 45-meter tall PSLV-C14 took off at 11:51 am today and placed the satellites as per ISRO’s plan.
Oceansat-2 is intended to help in identification of fish zones, report of sea status including turbulence and assistance with study of coastal zones of the country.
Oceansat-2 is also believed to render valuable inputs on meteorological studies and weather forecasts.
