Space Shuttle Discovery comes back after its 2-week mission to the International Space Station.
Discovery landed yesterday in California at the Edwards Air Force Base. It should have been landed at its touchdown port Florida but had to be diverted to the Mojave Desert, California after clouds and rain failed to clear from Florida.
The returning astronauts looked fit and emerged smiling. Then an inspection of the space shuttle was done.
In fact, NASA would have liked to save on the cost of transporting the space shuttle Discovery back to its home in Florida, but blamed it on inclement weather.
Space Shuttle Discovery took laboratory equipment, about 7.5 tons food; some spare parts, treadmill as well as crew quarters for the space station. It is a $100 billion project which involves 16 nations and is nearing a completion.
