A new study says that big cell size in the abdomen could actually is enough to predict that you will be diabetic in future.
According to the Swedish researchers who conducted study on several women, the abdominal fat cell size and/or the ratio of waist to height could actually be used as tools to determine if you will be type-2 diabetic in future.
The study of their research was published online in the FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology) Journal. And the findings say that although the abdominal fat cell number remain almost the same in a woman after adolescence, the cell size could actually change with time and bigger in those women who are type 2 diabetics.
This correlation between fat cell size and development of type-2 diabetes might prompt research in the preventive as well as therapeutic research
Their study based on over 1000 women also helped derive a simple formula of waist-to-height ratio which is obtained by dividing the waist circumference by body height could actually be used as a tool to identify the risk for type-2 diabetes in women.
