Women who abundantly use cleaning products such as air fresheners, insect repellants to keep molds and mildew at bay are at breast cancer risk than those who sparinlgy use, US researchers say.
At Silent Spring Institute Julia Brody and her colleagues reported after they studied and analyzed. The researchers in telephonic interviews with cancerous and non-cancerous women questioned about the products they used, as well as beliefs about causes of the breast cancer and risk factors suspected, if any.
Julia Brody et al had their study published in Environmental Health Journal that reports excessive usage of cleaning products including but not limited to air fresheners and insect repellents associate with high risk of breast cancer, although not much correlation with regards to pesticide use was studied.
The study says that women with the highest use had double the risk of breast cancer as compared to non users. According to Julia Brody it is first study that correlates use of cleaning products such as insect repellants and air fresheners with the breast cancer risk.
