Pregnant women warned against eating for two concept

Pregnant women warned against ‘eating for two’ concept by Britain’s health watchdog. The British Government’s health watchdog National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has issued a warning to pregnant women- that they should stop overeating during pregnancy. The general belief among expectant mothers is that they should consume food that would be sufficient for two, which actually is leading to obesity problems in pregnant women.

The report issued by NICE states that most of the pregnant women are facing obesity problems that are leading to other dangerous health conditions such as, high blood pressure, miscarriages, clots and still births. The report also prescribes a moderate exercise of ½ hour daily is a must for mothers-to-be and they should start reducing their baby weight six months after the delivery.

NICE also recommends that the pregnant women should stick to normal consumption of food during the last trimester of pregnancy to avoid any health complications. The risk of congenital abnormality in the babies born to obese mothers is also greater, so all you mother-to-be watch out and keep a check on how much you eat.
