Spine fluid test to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease

Spine-fluid test will be able to predict if a person will develop Alzheimer or not. Spine fluid test involves having a needle injected to spine and taking out cerebrospinal fluid with tissues.

The proteins present in the fluid will be a parameter that will predict oif a person will develop Alzheimer’s.

This test will be a big advancement in the field of medicine and is also the first test to predict of Alzheimer’s. Presence of 3 biomarkers in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) predicts the disease. The accuracy of the test is said to be about 100%.

However, as of now the test will be offered by general physicians and neurologists. However, at this point the test is offered as a clinical trial and there is risk too, injecting needle into spine has its own side effects. Besides, who will need to know the risk of Alzheimer’s? Again as there are no cures for the condition, does it help or hurt to know about the prediction?

That said, you can help slow the process of Alzheimer’s Disease if you have been at the risk by
Keeping your mind active,
being socially active,
staying fit,
taking low-fat and low-cholesterol diet
keeping healthy lifestyle
