No American men in the top ten ATP rankings.
The ATP top ten rankings announced had no American men this time. It might be a shocker for the American Tennis fraternity, as the ATP top ten rankings do not feature any male player from America.
It has been the first time that an American Payer is not holding on to any of the top ten positions since the ranking system began in 1973.
The ATP rankings has always had at least one American player who would rule among top ten ranks and players such as Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi remarkably contributed to this feat with their excellent performances.
Andy Roddick until recently carried on this legacy but after few of his recent performances he slipped from No.9 to No.12 position that resulted in no American make in the first ten ranks.
Patrick McEnroe who is the GM of player development for the American Tennis Association and also captain of US Davis Cup is unable to take this lightly but at the same time feels that the global participation or rather the number of players from all over the world entering the game could be one of the reasons for this slide.
And McEnroe is pretty confident that Andy Roddick will soon get into one of the top ten ranks in the coming days.
