Mirka and Anjali: The big women behind the champions

Women are truly behind the success of every man. It holds perfect when we talk about champions.
Winning Wimbledon 2009 mens singles title, Roger Federer made a history in the world of tennis. Well, if you guys don’t frown, I believe Roger Federer is to tennis as what Sachin Tendulkar to Cricket.
Federer is the best ever in the world of tennis and Sachin is highly regarded in cricket. Individually, both these players are most certainly gifted in their respective games, and they have surpassed all records. But surprisingly both these guys believe there is still more to come. One might well wonder about their ability to deliver the best almost every time they play and emerge as new champions. No doubt they are the reigning stars in the sporting world but one simply cannot ignore the strength they gain from the women behind in their lives, their wives.

Federer’s wife Mirka Vavrinec was a WTA tennis player and Federer’s first mixed doubles partner for Hopman’s Cup in 1997. But due to a serious leg injury she gave up the game of tennis in 2002.
The duo married in April this year. What is more? Mirka is expecting their first baby very soon and her husband has made history in the Center Court of Wimbledon by achieving the 15th grand slam, breaking Pete Sampras’ record of 14 Grand Slam majors.
Roger Federer gives all credit for his remarkable career to his wife Mirka who is there by him in almost every match and he is supposed to have gained tremendous calm and support from his ladylove.
Again in the life of another champion Sachin Tendulkar, Anjali Tendulkar definitely deserves a mention for relentlessly supporting the little master in his cricketing career. Anjali is a paediatrician by profession and the couple are blessed with two children to complete the family picture. Sachin and Anjali sponsor many underprivileged children and the couple seldom discuss their charity. The master blaster has a chain of records to his credit, and he dedicates his achievements to his family, which has a strong influence on his superb performance.

The two ladies have lent tremendous strength and support to their husbands and they seem to have certainly prioritised husbands beyond anything, which has motivated both Sachin and Federer to evolve as the champions of all times.
Who else but women can give the emotional strength and security that drive men to make new feats and achieve all that is impossible!
The finish is that both these women are elder than their respective husbands. Now is that something a recipe for expectant champions to feast on?
