New South Wales Blues Champions League Twenty20 2009 winners

New South Wales Blues are the champions of the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 2009 after ending the dream run of the underdog team Trinidad & Tobago. They snubbed the fairytale campaign of the caribbean team at the League and snapped up 41 runs margin win in what had been an electrifying finals in Hyderabad on Friday.

The caribbean flair had ended sadly by professional Aussie team and the Aussies outclassed the T&T team in all departments of the game. Brett Lee had been the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance with bat in the first innings scoring superb 48 runs and then seamed the ball right to scalp 2 Caribbean wickets.

Trinidad & Tobago won the toss and elected to field. Sent to bat, the NSW Blues had a bad start and at a point were struggling at 83/6. It was then Lee salvaged the team with his willow and his 48 from 31 balls with Steven Smith’s 33 runs helped the team post fairly decent total of 159/9.

The Trinidad & Tobago started the chase faltering just like the NSW Blues. They never looked the same ease they exuded all through the tournament and although Kieron Pollard gave some hope in the 14th over with a cameo 26 off 15 balls, once he fell Katich and his men just sent the last wickets bundled soon for 118 with 4 overs to spare to lift the Champions League 2009 trophy. The winning NSW Blues team also take home a prize money of USD 2,500,000.
