US Open Tennis 2010 Grand Slam tennis event begins today

The most spectacular Grand Slam events of the year the US open 2010 is set to begin in few hours from now. World Number one Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Kim Clijsters favorited as the Grand Slam event starts today.

While Belgian tennis ace Kim Clijsters is confident of defending the title, it is predicted that Federer might face Nadal at the Arthur Ashe stadium for the finals.

Nadal; however, looks to make the season of 4 Grand Slam events complete by winning the last one of the season here at the flushing meadows. The US Open title has been eluding the champion and although he doesn’t want to sound too obsessed, he looks confident to lay his hands (err…can we say teeth?) on the trophy. Nadal comes to the tournament winning the French Open 2010 and also the Wimbledon 2010 titles which takes his total Grand Slam titles to 8.

Clijsters who owns two Grand Slam career titles, has the both come for her US Open women’s titles and she hopes to get herself to the third time. Federer though comes with lifted morale and confidence after winning at Cincinnati and he hopes to out perform his own expectations and hopes.

Tennis bookies and fans hope that Nadal may have to fight Djokovic but then if Federer edges past Djokovic the title chances of Nadal might get stiffer.

You never know what surprises we have in lesser known favorites Robin Soderling or Thomas Berdych.

Women’s side looks more or less weak as well as clear as Serena opted out of the tournament owning to her foot injury.
