Jamie Fenton is a normal 16-year old school going kid from Inglewood, Taranaki. But we beg you don’t go by her age, because Jamie has invented a novel gadget that will restrain deafness among pre-school kids at the childcare center who are prone to get affected in a noisy atmosphere.

At age 10, when her age mates would play with toys or involve in pranks, Jamie initiated a noise level meter. And with her father’s support Jamie has now invented a traffic light noise meter system, which has been approved by the National Foundation for the Deaf who have taken the initiative to commercially produce the gadget that Jamie invented.

Jamie got this innovative idea during from her class where her teacher would use a behavior system to keep a check on the students in which each color light would indicate certain behavior of the kids and Jamie based her electronic device to run along the same principle.

Jamie made her first model of the traffic light noise meter system device and presented in the school’s science exhibition and there she won a prize. But years later, The National Foundation for the deaf happened to find Jamie’s device and they decided to produce the gadget, which will workout very cheap for them as compared to any of the American hearing devices. The gadget indicates the noise level in the surrounding with the help of lights.

Jamie has now been offered a scholarship in the University and a royalty for the rare feat and no wonder the bubbling teenage girl is excited about her invention reaching the masses.
