It’s just 10 days that the new smartphone BlackBerry Torch 9800 was launched, but maybe for the first time in the history of smartphones the price of the phone comes down by 50% so early in its life.
Despite some cool features, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 slider didn’t see encouraging sales. The smartphone initially came with a price of $199 with an AT&T contract for 2 years. However, disappointed with the pathetic sales, the BlackBerry makers, RIM quickly took a decision and announced a half price sale of the new 10-day old BlackBerry Torch 9800 slider smartphone.
The price of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 comes down by 50%, from $199 to $99 with AT&T contract. The disappointing sales could have been due to bad reviewing by gadget nerds and the press or even because the BlackBerry Torch 9800 didn’t have an edge over its competitor smartphones, Apple iPhone 4 and other Android phones.
A price cut to 50% into product within 10 days’ time isn’t great thing for RIM but a good news for the customers, for it pinned huge hopes on the Torch that it will kill the Apple iPhone.
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone can be purchased at Amazon and even many resellers with an AT&T contract for 2 years.
