A 67-year-old Brit Michael Kilby undergoes first successful heart surgery using minimal invasive CyberKnife Technology or the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System.
The British man Michael Kilby, had given consent to go under CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System after doctors gave up hope on his living, after he was diagnosed with cardiac tumor. Doctors never thought he would live beyond Christmas after finding the tumor to be a little larger than golf ball sized in his heart’s right chamber.
At Harley Street Clinic in London, the radiation scalpel aka cyberknife was used and radiation was sent through the cyberknife to cut through the tissues and then hit at the tumor within the functioning heart. The radiation was precisely controlled with robot.
The CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System successfully shrunk the tumor by half and doctors say that it might come down further by sizes in the coming weeks.
Courtesy CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System Michael Kilby’s prognosis which had been awful before the surgery improved tremendously now and doctors believe he can live better and longer.
