Follow Twitter users without the Twitter account

Follow Twitter users without the Twitter account. Twitter came up with a new feature to please those who do not have Twitter accounts as yet.
The new feature, Twitter calls it ‘Fast Follow’ is a fast follow feature in the real sense. Twitter allows people to follow anyone through an SMS even if one didn’t have an account at the microblogging site.
How does the ‘Fast Follow’ feature work?
Twitter Fast Follow feature is the gift from Twitter to all the passive users in US.
Texting ‘Follow [with the username]‘ to 40404 (Twitter shortcode in the US) and then on you get all updates by the user you chose to follow in text messages as SMS alerts.
This works in US alone as of now, and Twitter foresees that the ‘Fast Follow’ feature will work well in advertizing and marketing.
Twitter asks people to use the ‘Fast Follow’ feature when they see a username at a grocer or on TV or heard on radio.
Bringing in the passive users involved with the Twitter is a good marketing strategy that the Twitter seem to follow with the ‘Fast Follow’ feature. It kind of allows people to take the tweets who are themselves aloof from the site. Although it acts like a newsletter, you still never know, as consuming the tweets can transform passive Twitter users to active ones.
Twitter’s blog has some more details on the feature and a few other text message features being made available with the service.
