Posted on 16. Jun, 2009 by admin in Technology

Samsung's i7500 renamed GalaxySamsung Electronics has unveiled its android phone as Galaxy. The smartphone Samsung Galaxy runs on the Google’s Android operating system. Samsung i7500 or the Galaxy looks slimmer than both HTC Magic and the Apple iPhone 3G; at 11.9 mm thickness it appeals to all smartphone users.

Samsung Galaxy also has a GPS and sports a 5-mp camera that has video option. The touchscreen Galaxy is also scratch proof.

Samsung Galaxy is certainly sexier as compared to numeric moniker. The quad-band GSM handset with a download speed of 7.2Mbps (if the operators have HSPA), a HSDPA (900/1700/2100MHz) support and support for WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) networks, 3.2-inch display that comes with 320 x 480 pixel AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) touchscreen comes with WiFi, a GPS and an 8GB of memory and with MicroSD memory extend to 32GB and more. The standard audio jack enables to plug whichever headphones you like.

The Samsung Galaxy has just 5 main keys as well as a directional keypad just below the 3.2-inch display. Similar to the HTC Magic, Samsung Galaxy too doesn’t have a QWERTY keyboard. The 5-mp camera and the LED flash are located on the back and the key to lock handset and volume control button are on the side.

The AMOLED screen actually take in less power as compared to TFT LED screens, so upon similar usage, one can expect Galaxy battery to run longer than Apple iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy comes preloaded with access to Google services, which includes Gmail and the Google Maps and the Google Android OS had been quite responsive on the handset. If the handset is tilted to a 90-degree angle it will switch the display immediately to landscape from the portrait mode, thanks to the accelerometer which is in built.

Galaxy has a unique feature, as you type on the keyboard when a key is accidentally touched, there is a feature that enables the handset to vibrate little. So people who are apprehensive about touchscreen handsets can actually start loving them; yes, Androids are becoming cool and mediocre guys too will start using these and that’s what Samsung Galaxy proves to be.

Samsung Galaxy will be first available in Germany and France by June end and during the next half of 2009 it will be available in other markets.

Pricing of Samsung Galaxy hasn’t been finalized yet.
